9 Troy students arrested after threat

School superintendent retiring

TROY, Pa (18 NEWS) - - 9 Troy high school students have been arrested following a threat made against the school last week.

 

On Tuesday, parents received a robo call from Superintendent Charles Young that a school shooting threat had been made for the following day.

Since then, local and state police have been investigating and Troy Borough police now tell us 9 students have been arrested for incidents off school grounds.

Parents are worried and school officials say they're treating the threat very seriously.

The school district is also investigating reports of gang violence within the high school.

One of those 9 student arrests happened at last weeks football game in Troy.

Tonight, Troy plays in Canton for the "old shoe"--a long standing tradition between the two schools.

18 News has learned security precautions will be taken for the large crowds expected to attend.

In addition, superintendent Charles Young has announced his retirement, effective on December 22nd.

Young says the decision is personal and not related to the threats or the arrests.
