Animal control removes horses after reports of animal abuse

PINE CITY, N.Y. (18 News) - Animal control and the Chemung County Sheriff's office intervened and removed horses from a farm in Pine City on Wednesday night, after complaints of animal abuse.

The 3-acre residence on Comfort Road houses about 20 plus horses.

A witness tells 18 News that the horses have not been properly taken care of or checked in years.

We brought you the story, Tuesday night, when animal control first paid a visit. They had a search warrant after a Facebook post circulated, showing emaciated horses.

The post has generated thousands of shares and dozens of calls to animal control.

No official word yet on what lead animal control to remove the horses. Our calls to their offices have not been returned.
