ELMIRA, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - Did you know that the need for new pilots is growing every day? That is why Harris Hill is holding an aviation outreach in Center Court at the Arnot Mall this Saturday May 19th from 10am until 5pm.
Organizer Jessica Hamilton gave us a taste of who we can expect to see at this program. "There's going to be lots of different setups there, I know that the Glen Curtis Museum is coming, along with Women in Aviation International and Harris Hill," Hamilton said, "so we're going to have lots and lots of information about a lot of the historic history and background of Harris Hill."
Hamilton also told us that Elmira Regional will have a representative present as well and if you didn't already know, you can head to Harris Hill for your very own sail plane ride for 100 dollars. But, there is a way you can get that ride for much cheaper.
"We'll be selling raffle tickets for rides throughout the summer and the raffle tickets are only 5 dollars for a 100 dollar ride, so it's a very good opportunity," said Hamilton. You can pick up those raffle tickets at events throughout the summer. Including the event at Arnot mall this weekend and the Genesee Air Show later this summer.
If you go to this outreach this weekend and find that you are more interested in flying and aviation, Harris Hill offers a junior program for anyone over the age of 14. "Harris Hill's junior program is a great opportunity for anyone in the area over the age of 14," says Hamilton, "so our ages range from 14 to 26 for the Harris Hill junior program and you can start flying and get into a plane for under 100 dollars."
If you are interested in the Harris Hill junior program you can call Harris Hill Soaring Corporation or ask about it at the aviation outreach this weekend.
