Cameron man charged with criminal possession of a weapon and leaving the scene of an accident

CAMERON, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - A 34-year-old Cameron man is behind bars, charged with illegally possessing a rifle, as well as leaving the scene of an accident. 

It's alleged that Ivan Caparulo possessed a rifle while being a convicted felon. He is charged with one count of criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor. 

Caparulo is also facing separate charges relating to leaving the scene of an accident in the Town of Jasper. He was was issued summons for aggravated unlicensed operation in the second degree, unlicensed operator, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, operating a vehicle without an interlock device, moving from lane unsafely, failure to keep right, and having no displayed number plate. 

Caparulo was remanded to the Steuben County jail on $1,000 cash bail for his weapons charge.
