Waverly Police said they responded to the area of Cayuta Avenue in Waverly around 11 o'clock at night on July 1. Officers discovered a pickup truck had crashes into the house at 942 Cayuta Avenue. There they found a nine year old boy had been driving the truck and was trapped inside.
Greater Valley EMS and the Waverly-Barton Fire Department helped get the boy out of the truck. The boy was taken to Robert Packer Hospital with serious injuries to both of his legs.
There was extensive damage to the house and the pickup truck involved was demolished.
Police said the child had access to they keys of his father's truck while his parents were sleeping. The child then drove the pick-up truck at a high rate of speed South bound on Cayuta Ave and lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway and struck a tree, causing the vehicle to become air born, and then hit the house.
