Clock tower at Northside Blodgett High School in Corning torn down

CORNING, N.Y. (18 News) - The fight to save the clock tower at Northside Blodgett High School in Corning is over.

The tower came tumbling down today. An alumni group had been trying to save the tower, but is was so rotted it could not be salvaged.

The school first opened in 1927. The site will now be developed into 26 single-family lots.

Construction is scheduled to start in the spring.
