Corning YMCA kicks off Annual Campaign

CORNING, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - The Corning YMCA announced its Annual Campaign kickoff on Wednesday.

The Y says it's more than a gym-and-swim and as a nonprofit organization, it never turns anyone away from its life-changing programs due to inability to pay.

The Annual Campaign helps provide scholarships for not just memberships but many of its programs and day camp.

A goal of $65,000 has been set to be reached by November 15 which 72 percent has already been raised.

"I think one of my biggest goals is to create awareness about all that this Y has to offer," Board Manager Denise Ackley said. "There are so many programs and so many ways that people can get involved, and the health and wellness aspects that it can provide our community, our businesses, and everyone. We all benefit from that."

The money raised stays in the community helping it grow.

Last year's Annual Campaign raised close to $100,000 and helped almost 600 local individuals.
