Elmira man indicted after allegedly fracturing arm of infant

ELMIRA, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - An Elmira man has been indicted on felony assault charges after it's alleged that he intentionally fractured the arm and collar bone of an infant.

It's alleged that on December 3, 2017, James Gaige intentionally and forcefully grabbed and pulled the right arm of a six-week-old infant. The infant suffered fractures to their arm and their collar bone. 

Gaige is charged with assault in the second degree, a class D felony, and assault in the third degree, a class A misdemeanor. 

He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
