EPD looking to identify perp in Elmira Eagles fight

ELMIRA, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - Elmira Police are looking for information about a fight that broke out at an Elmira Eagles basketball game back in December.

They said they were called to the YMCA on Penna Avenue on Dec. 16 to investigate an assault. The two victims, who sustained concussions, a broken jaw and substantial financial loss said the perpetrator wore jersey #22.

Elmira Police said the Elmira Eagles manager, coach and players knowingly misled EPD in their investigation by telling them the fight was started by Chad Dillard. However officials said they later learned that Dillard, who lives in Rochester, had quit the team at that point and his jersey had been given to another player.

Police said the Elmira Eagles organization has refused to cooperate further or provide any information to help identify the player who was wearing jersey #22 on the night of the assault.

They're now asking anyone with information to call them. They're also asking anyone who knows Chad Dillard to have him contact EPD so he can clear his name.
