ELMIRA, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - - Community members collaborated with the group spearheading the proposed park redesign of the Ernie Davis Park on Monday night in Elmira.
City officials, along with Design Connect, a student-run community design organization out of Cornell University, are looking to redesign the park. But both groups say they need the public's input before they put anything together.
On Monday, the organization, along with city officials, held its first meeting with the public to learn more about the community would like to see happen at the park.
"We have some ideas for the park but we really need to know what the community wants in order for us to give them something they'll use," Design Connect project manager Elizabeth Fabis said.
"Ultimately it's the community's park, and we want whatever we build and do there to be utilized by the community," Community Development Director Jennifer Miller said.
The design group will spend the spring semester creating plans for the new park, before unveiling them to the public.
