Five facing drug, weapons charges following traffic stop

CORNING, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - The smell of marijuana coming from a vehicle on West Market Street just after 1 a.m. Sunday lead to five people being arrested on drug and weapons charges.

Corning Police said they were investigating the smell of marijuana when they discovered a loaded handgun and cocaine in the car.

Sterling Kelley, 21, Eric Barner, 31, Tyrea Sessoms, 35, Alicia Haskins, 24, and John Dunham, 28, all of Elmira, were each charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm and varying degrees of Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

Kelley, Barner, and Sessoms, who were all charged with class D felonies were held for arraignment. Haskins and Dunham were issued appearance tickets.

Kelley also faces a Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance charge.
