Good Time for Home Sellers in the Twin Tiers

Good Time for Home Sellers - Attention home sellers...as the housing market tends to be slower in the winter, there are benefits for putting your house up for sale in the spring.

The supply of homes for sale are low due to the winter market and realtors say sellers need to act fast.

"Things do pick up in the spring, however if people are thinking to get their house on the market for sale, now is the time, not a lot of competition so the sooner you get it on the market the better," said Terrie Burke, President of the Elmira Corning Association of Realtors.

People tend to think spring is the best time to get their house on the market but buyers are always looking year round.

Burke suggests the best thing for buyers and sellers to do are to contact local realtors because they have the latest information on the statistics that's best able to help them in their real estate experience.

The home buying process typically takes an average of two to six months to close a sale.

According to the National Association of Realtors, as home listings are scarcer and buyer demand remains high, bidding wars are likely to be a hallmark of this year's spring home selling season.
