Man found with four pounds of marijuana and seven grams of cocaine following traffic stop on I-86

TOWN OF ELMIRA, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - A Deerpark man is behind bars in the Chemung County jail after he was stopped for speeding on I-86 last Saturday, September 30.

New York State Police say that they pulled over 20-year-old Anthony Esposito after he was observed speeding, going 91 mph in a 65 mph zone. 

After Esposito was stopped, Officers noticed a smell of marijuana coming from his vehicle. They subsequently discovered around four pounds of marijuana, seven grams of cocaine, suspected marijuana wax, a digital scale and a marijuana smoking device in his vehicle. 

Esposito was arrested and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fourth degree, a class C felony, as well as criminal possession of marijuana in the second degree, a class D felony. He was also issued a ticket for speeding.

Esposito was arraigned in the town of Elmira court and remanded to the Chemung County jail on $7,500 cash bail.

He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
