Newly enacted requirement for future nurses

ALBANY, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - Governor Cuomo signed a bill into law this week requiring anyone planning to become a registered nurse to obtain a bachelor's degree in nursing. They must do this within 10 years.

There are some exemptions. Those that are already an R.N. or already in nursing school will not have to abide by the new law.

Some hospitals in the state are offering tuition reimbursement and pay incentives to nurses who would like to get their degree.
