Preparations for the Downtown Elmira Holiday Parade Underway

ELMIRA, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - Preparations for  the 61st Annual Downtown Elmira Holiday Parade are already underway.

Over 250 costumes to be featured in the event are being organized at the Clemens Center. Officials said parade-goers can expect to see a wide variety of characters, from Wonder Woman and Disney princesses to superheroes and minions. Though things in Mandeville Hall are calm right now, organizers said come Friday morning, it'll be a lot more chaotic.

"All of these costumes are labeled so they check in and we're going to tell them what unit they're in, what color their unit is and the poster boards will up," parade coordinator Deb Sullivan said. "And then they'll find costumes and their costumes are labeled with their name. We do have probably about 30 costumes that weren't filled so if you could down here to Mandeville Hall the morning of the parade you can jump in."
