Registered sex offender arrested after advertising to teach martial arts to children

CAMPBELL, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - A 36-year-old Campbell man, who is a registered sex offender, has been arrested and charged with failing to register as a sex offender and failure to notify a change of internet or internet identifiers to the Department of Corrections, both class E felonies, after he advertised to teach martial arts to children at his home.

After authorities further investigated the advertisement, it's alleged that Vernon Vanzile III had several internet profiles on social media and other sites.

As a level 3 registered sex offender, Vanzile is required to notify the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services and the Steuben County Sheriffs Office of the information, which he allegedly failed to do.

Vanzile was arraigned in Bath Town Court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail, without bail.

He will reappear in court on January 3, 2018.
