Rep. Baker Set to Retire after 25+ Years in PA House

HARRISBURG, Pa. (18 NEWS) - He served in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for more than 25 years, elected 13 times by the people of the 68th legislative district, now Representative Matt Baker said - it's time to retire.

Rep. Baker announced in a news release Thursday that he will not seek re-election.

"The decision to not seek re-election was a very difficult one," said Baker. "After much prayer and deliberation with my family, friends and others, I have decided that it is the right time."

Baker is one of the most senior members of the House Republican Caucus, and during his time in office has authored around 30 state laws.

The 68th Legislative District included parts of Tioga, Bradford and Potter counties.
