ELMIRA, N.Y. (18 News) – A roller derby bout is coming to First Arena this weekend, and a local team is ready to show off this up and coming sport to a new batch of fans.

Members from the “Dolls of Destruction” team talk about the sport, and what they enjoy about it. “What draws me to the sport of roller derby is the physical and mental capacity that you have to have to play it,” said Cady Jaquish, who goes by the name of “Hell Cat F6F” on the track. “There's always something new to learn every single practice, not just the sport-wise, but actually the business-wise, the whole team, and getting with other teams and organizations.”

“It's just a highly aggressive sport, and it is contact, which is awesome,” said Sarah Tice, who goes by the name “Teeny Drop”Her”” on the track. “It's something that, a lot of women who played sports in high school, once you graduate, you don't have that chance, and that whole camaraderie of being on a sports team to be competitive. You're on the roller skates, and you hit each other in the short run.”

The bout takes place Saturday night at 6:00 p.m. at First Arena. Tickets are available through the First Arena website.
