WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - Wal-Mart and BestBuy have Black Friday, Amazon and other online retailers have Cyber Monday, and in between all of that is Small Business Saturday.
A day which means much more than a chance for area businesses to make a quick buck.
"Small business Saturday is important to local businesses," says Brittany Gibbs, the Tourism and Marketing Manager for the Watkins Glen Chamber of Commerce.
"not just because of the one day they get shoppers through their doors, but the hope is that those shoppers will then be in enticed and encouraged to make some return trips and to support local business more often."
So instead of a one-time day of shopping mayhem, Small Business Saturday tries to be an idea to create business relationships and become more acquainted with the community.
