South Carolina man convicted of sexually assaulting a minor

BATH, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - A South Carolina man could spend the next 25 years in prison after being convicted of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old victim in the Town of Bath in 2014.

40-year-old Joseph Watkins was convicted yesterday in Steuben County court of First Degree Criminal Sex Act and First Degree Rape among other charges.

New York State Police worked in cooperation with Pennsylvania State Police and the Internal Revenue Service to track down Watkins.

Watkins was remanded to the Steuben County Jail to await sentencing on September 18th.
