Tioga Downs Making Push for Fourth Gaming Licence

Nichols, N.Y. (18 NEWS) -- There was no poker face needed for Tioga Downs owner Jeff Gural during Friday's press conference at his casino. He announced his intentions to open up a fund that would annually give away $1.5 million dollars to organizations and small businesses in the Southern Tier should Tioga Downs receive that license.

"My message to everyone today is - one, I'm going to get that license. I'm not going to leave anything unturned. Anything that is needed to be done to get that license, that makes any sense, I will do. And two, I'm adding another million dollars to the fun that I have put together," Gural says.

Gural also says that expanding Tioga Downs into a full casino would generate over 600 new jobs. One local politician had a direct message for the gaming commission.

"So to the commission Tom Libous says to you, that no we're not a big casino operator. We are individuals, we're families, we're people. We are people. We are the community of the Southern Tier and we need this license," Libous says.

The gaming commission is expected to make a decision shortly after Tioga Downs submits it's revised plan.
