Valu Home Centers Raises Over $50K for Salvation Army

ELMIRA, N.Y. (18 NEWS) - Customers who shopped at our local Valu Home Center store on Elmira's Southside raised over $50,000 for the Salvation Army.

It's all part of the company's "Give the Gift that Could Save a Life" campaign. Store officials said $5 from every carbon monoxide detector sold in the last six weeks went to the Salvation Army in Elmira.

"Valu Home Stores have been in Elmira about 17 years and for 17 years we've been part of the community," store manager Andy Hakes said.

"You know it's always great when we can partner with businesses in the community to help the people in the community," Major Haggarty said.

If you didn't buy a CO detector this season, there's still time to help out, you can donation here.
