Albany, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Sadena Parks fired a course-record, 9-under 62 to come back from seven strokes down to win the SEFCU Championship by one shot on Sunday.
Beginning the day tied for 15th place at minus-5, Parks finished her final round at 14-under 199 to win her first career event on the Symetra Tour.
Entering this week's event, Parks had two top-10 finishes on the year, including a second-place finish at the Island Resort Championship in late June.
Second-round leader Min Lee ended in sole possession of second place at 13- under 200 with her final-round 70 at Capital Hills at Albany.
Right behind Lee were Min Seo Kwak and Brianna Do, both of whom carded 66s on Sunday. Numa Gulyanamitta (70) finished in fifth at 11-under 202, while Veronica Felibert (68), Hye-Min Kim (69) and Marissa Steen (71) all tied for sixth at minus-9.
Parks started her round off strong and she only got stronger. Back-to-back birdies at one and two had Parks at 2-under early. Following two straight pars, she rattled off three straight gains from No. 5 to get to minus-10 for the week.
After making the turn with three straight pars from eight, Parks made back-to- back birdies again at 11 and 12. She added two more birdies at 16 and 18 to finish her three days at 14-under. The final birdie at 18 proved to be the one that gave Parks her first career win.
