Dan Shwam Ready For Challenge in Geneva as New Manager

Former Pioneers leader thrilled to take over

ELMIRA, N.Y. (18 SPORTS) - Former Elmira Pioneers manager and local legend, Dan Shwam, is thrilled to take over the reigns in Geneva.

Shwam, who last coached the Elmira Pioneers in 2012, has won numerous coach of the year honors including the PGCBL's top coach in Victor in 2015. Over the course of his long career, which spans back to the early 1990's, Shwam even served as a scout for MLB's Milwaukee Brewers and the Miami Marlins.

This summer, after a few years in Victor, Swham will take over Geneva and coach the likes of Horseheads Nico Limoncelli and Ben Terwilliger of Corning on the team. 18 Sports spoke with Shwam on his future with Geneva. The Red Wings open up the season June 2nd vs. Newark at home at 7:05 pm.
