ELMIRA, N.Y. (18 SPORTS) - The Elmira Pioneers bulked up their roster again on Wednesday.
A total of four more players were signed, two from Wofford College and Mississippi State will play at Dunn Field this summer. From Wofford College, Jake Dippold and Colin Davis come aboard and two from Mississippi State, Jordan Westburg and Owen Lovell, will all be suiting it up for the Pioneers this summer.
Jake Dippold, a 6’3”, 185-pound left hander pitcher, hails from Syracuse, NY. Dippold was a four-year starter at Solvay High School, in his senior season he had a 1.47 ERA in 41 innings pitched with 62 Strikeouts and a 3-1 record.
Colin Davis, a 6’1”, 180-pound, outfielder from Roswell, GA, during his senior year at Blessed Trinity Catholic High School hit .421 with 56 hits, 61 RBIs and ten home runs. With Wofford this season Davis has been impressive with a .306 average and ten home runs.
Jordan Westburg is a 6’3”, 202-pound, freshman infielder from New Braunfels, TX. Westburg is a top young prospect, Westburg was a first team All-State shortstop in both 2016 and 2017, and was named District 27 MVP after batting .457 with 13 doubles, three triples, four home runs, 22 RBI, 36 runs and 33 walks as a senior at New Braunfels.
Friday June 1st is Opening Night vs. the Newark Pilots, there will be a lot of fun festivities, with free Silverline Construction Batting Helmets, and Post Game Fireworks.
