Horseheads Wrestling Eyes Encore Performance

Blue Raiders look for another strong year

HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (18 SPORTS) - Horseheads wrestling is coming off their best year in school history.

The Blue Raiders earned a STAC West title, the overall STAC championship and the Section IV title last year. Horseheads coach Shane Lese and the Blue Raiders are primed to reload this season with some big guns back. Pacing the attack on the mat will be 170-pound senior Chris Eames. The defending Section IV champion was just one match away from placing at states last season.

Also back is 126-pound grappler Devin Woodworth. The junior lightweight won 32 matches last year and will look to win his third-straight Section IV title this season. Horseheads will have to replace Section IV champion Devin's brother, Wesley, who is now at SUNY Brockport.

Horseheads starts their season this Friday and Saturday hosting the Mark Stephens Classic at the middle school. Check out the season preview of the Blue Raiders.
