WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (18 SPORTS) - After a storied career at Wake Forest, Elmira native Mike Weaver is working for the next step.
Weaver capped off his remarkable run at kicker by setting a Wake Forest single-season record for points scored with 115 points in 2017. Wake Forest also won their second consecutive bowl game winning the Belk Bowl, 55-52, over Texas A&M in a thriller in December.
The new single-season scoring mark by Weaver surpassed the great Brian Piccolo's mark of 111, set in 1964.
Now, Mike is pursuing his ultimate goal, making it to the NFL. A two-time All-ACC selection, the Elmira native was also honored by being named to the Lou Groza Watch List to start this past football season. Weaver's 327 career points are second all-time in program history.
Weaver also holds the program record for career field goal percentage (.764) after making 68 of 89 field goals. 18 Sports caught up with Weaver to discuss his pursuit of making it to the next level.
