MLB Legend Tommy John Coming to Elmira Thursday

Special guest at Pioneers Hot Stove Dinner

ELMIRA, N.Y. (18 SPORTS) - MLB pitching great Tommy John will be the guest of honor at the third ever Elmira Pioneers Hot Stove Dinner. 

John, who won 288 career games in the big leagues, will entertain fans and sign autographs Thursday night at the Elmira Holiday Inn starting at 5:30 p.m. A few tickets are still available but are going fast. You can purchase tickets at the Elmira Pioneers offices are by simply calling 607-734-2690. A dinner ticket is $50, while the meet-and-greet portion is an additional $50. 

Tommy John will share stories of his time playing at historic Dunn Field against the Pioneers in the 1960's, answer baseball questions and put on a great night for fans. Aside from his pitching talent, John is perhaps best known for his revolutionary procedure to repair a ligament in his throwing arm called "Tommy John" surgery. The process enables pitchers to be free of pain and has helped thousands since John had the surgery, first done in 1974.
