S-VE Grad Grover in MAC Football Title

Akron long snapper realizing dreams

ELMIRA, N.Y. (18 SPORTS) - Another local college football player is getting a big opportunity.

Spencer-Van Etten native, Hayden Grover, will suit up for the Akron Zips football program in the MAC Conference Championship. Grover, a redshirt junior long snapper for the Zips, will look to capture a title when Akron faces Toledo or Northern Illinois. Kickoff is set for noon Saturday, December 2nd at Detroit's Ford Field.

The last time Akron won an overall MAC championship was back in 2005. Tuesday's division title was the third in program history.

Akron topped Kent State 24-14 on Tuesday night, securing the MAC Conference Eastern title. Grover was ranked as the top long snapper in the country coming out of high school by Special Team Solutions, while also earning All-American status at Spencer-Van Etten. Grover is primed for a shot to take the field for the Zips and bring home a conference crown next weekend.
