State Champion Senecas Welcomed Home with Parade

Watkins Glen Girls won their first ever Class C state title on Sunday

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (18 SPORTS) - - The New York State Class C state champion Watkins Glen Senecas girls basketball team received a parade when they returned home on Sunday night.

The Senecas received an escort by local police and fire departments on their return home.

The team was greeted by friends and family when they returned to Watkins Glen High School.

The Senecas defeated Port Jefferson 65-63 in the Class C state title game at Hudson Valley Community College on Sunday.

Hannah Morse made a shot on the baseline at the buzzer for the win as the Senecas won their first state title in program history.

The Senecas trailed by sixteen points in the fourth quarter.

Amanda Pike scored 16 points for the Senecas.

Emilia Bond scored 14 points for Watkins Glen.

Watkins Glen finishes the season with a record of 22-2.
