ENDICOTT, N.Y. (18 SPORTS) - The Tioga Tigers football team defeated Dolgeville 46-16 in the class D state quarterfinals on Friday at Ty Cobb Stadium in Endicott.
The Tigers took a 7-0 lead in the first quarter on a 13-yard touchdown pass by Connor Hutchinson to Trey Floyd and didn't look back.
" I think the kids just came out ready to play, especially defensively," said head coach Nick Aiello.
Four of Floyd's five touchdowns came in the first half, as Tioga jumped out to a 33-0 lead at halftime.
"It's a great feeling. The line did a great job which helped me out there and I think the whole team played very well," said Floyd.
Tioga improves to 9-1 on the season and advances to the state semifinals for the sixth time in the last seven years.
Tioga will take on Maple Grove in the class D state semifinals next Friday at 4:00 pm at Union-Endicott.
Maple Grove defeated Clyde-Savannah 61-28 in the class D quarterfinals.
