SYRACUSE, N.Y. (18 SPORTS) - On Saturday, Elmira native Mike Weaver came back strong at Syracuse.
Weaver, a redshirt senior kicker for Wake Forest University football, put together a great performance on the field for the Demon Deacons. On Saturday, Weaver connected on field goals from 43, 41 and 30 yards en route to a 16 point performance. Weaver's play helped Wake Forest to a 64-43 shootout win which gave them bowl eligibility at (6-4) overall.
After the game, Wake Forest head coach Dave Clawson spoke with 18 Sports on the success Mike has had and being a leader on the team. Weaver is considered an NFL prospect after earning All-ACC first team last season, plus, being named to the Lou Groza watch list at the beginning of the 2017 season.
For the year, Weaver is 15-for-18 on field goals and has connected on 40 of 43 extra points. Weaver and Wake Forest return to action this Saturday when they host N.C. State at 7:30 pm.
