Cleveland, OH (Sports Network) - The Chicago White Sox placed second baseman Gordon Beckham on the 15-day disabled list with a hook of the hamate fracture in his left hand.
Beckham injured himself swinging at a pitch in the second inning of Tuesday's game against the Nationals. He will undergo surgery early next week and is expected to miss approximately six weeks.
In seven games this season, Beckham is hitting .316 with an RBI.
Chicago has recalled pitcher Deunte Heath from Triple-A Charlotte to fill the roster spot. The right-hander spent most of the 2012 season with Charlotte, going 4-3 with a 1.48 ERA in 36 games (four starts). He also pitched in three games with the White Sox last season.
