Skaneateles alum among Tewaaraton Award candidates; 2 Orange players named All-ACC

Syracuse (WSYR-TV) – Two members of the Syracuse University’s men’s lacrosse team have received All-ACC honors.

Junior Kevin Rice Jr. of Skaneateles and Redshirt-sophomore Brandon Mullins were among the 18 student-athletes named to the 2014 All-ACC team, the first players to receive the honor for SU.

This is the first year that SU has competed in the ACC as a full member of the conference.

Rice is one of 11 players named as a candidate for the Tewaaraton Award, given to the nation’s best player.

He was a leader in overall scoring in the ACC, averaging 4.5 points a game and tied for sixth nationally with 2.33 assists per game.

No. 3 SU faces No. 2 Duke in the semifinals of the 2014 ACC Men’s Lacrosse Championship at 5 p.m. on Friday in Chester, Pa. ESPNU will televise the Friday matchup.
