Edison Knew More Than The Rest Of Us

From day one, they knew.  Most knew how good they were, but they knew how great they could be.

While 18 Sports attended a practice, we witnessed Coach Cooper talking to her team.  It was in that circle that she told her squad that this had the potential to be the most cohesive unit she's ever had.  She was spot on.

The Spartans had the make up of a State Championship team from the word go.  They had hitting, pitching, and defense and they were steady through out the season.  Achieving the rank of number one in the state half way through the season may have given the Spartans some additional reinforcement, but I'm still certain that it just told them what they already knew.

Edison never came off as the team that knew what was to come.  They didn't walk into games like a state power house.  In fact, most of the time, they danced into games like the light-hearted, fun-loving, team-together ball club that we had watched develop at the end of last season.

They were always fun to talk to, because they didn't take themselves too seriously.  As the big game moved closer, their attitude was the same as it was in the first week.  If there's a recipe for how a state championship should be won, while enjoying every second of the season, the Thomas A. Edison Spartans just showed us.
