Sunrise, FL (SportsNetwork.com) - Detroit Red Wings forward Pavel Datsyuk will play for the first time in over a month when the team visits the Florida Panthers on Thursday.

Datsyuk, who will serve as captain for host Russia in the upcoming Olympic tournament in Sochi, has been sidelined since Jan. 1 with a leg injury. He took part in Thursday's morning skate, however, and was cleared to participate by the team's medical staff after getting through the workout without any setbacks.

The three-time Selke Trophy recipient still ranks second among Red Wings players with 15 goals and fourth in points (32) despite playing in just 35 of the club's 56 games. In addition to missing 14 contests with the most recent injury, Datsyuk sat out seven straight outings after sustaining a concussion on Nov. 23.

Defenseman Jakub Kindl, who left Monday's game against Vancouver with a lower- body ailment, will be placed on injured reserve to make room for Datsyuk on the active roster.
