BATH, N.Y (18-NEWS) Demolition is scheduled to begin on the Bath Ambulance building next week.

Crews will start tearing down the current building, to make way for a new one. The timeline for the project is expected to take two weeks to tear down the building, and clear away debris before immediately beginning construction. The goal is to be in the new building before winter. The benefits to the new building include cutting costs, and offering space for the community to utilize.

“For our members to give them a safer quarters, the buildings been here for a long time, and more area to work with. We've run out of storage. In this building every time we've bought a new ambulance we've had to have it lowered to fit in. The standard new ambulances won't fit in here so that will be a big cost saving for us,” said the President of the Bath Ambulance Kris Kester.

Bath Ambulance has also purchased the home next to the current building, so the new building has enough space for the crews and ambulance fleet. A bigger building allows for future district expansion and to provide better coverage for the area. It will also have a bigger training room, for more EMT classes, to get more people involved in emergency response, and for other organizations to utilize the space.
