Elmira Ends Skid With Win Over Maine-Endwell

It wasn't easy, but the Express were able to get back in the win column with a one-point victory over the Spartans.
ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM-TV) - With a different bounce of the ball, the Elmira boys basketball team would have had a vastly different five game stretch.  The Express knew that their five game skid had to come to an end on Wednesday night, with the Spartans from Maine-Endwell in town.

Heading into the fourth quarter, the Express were clinging to a three point lead.  Whenever one team would score, another would answer, but Elmira was able to maintain a short lead.

A charge was called on the Express, and that allowed the Spartans to tie things up at 66.  There were plenty of free throw opportunities down the stretch, but both teams struggled from the charity stripe.

Still tied, Eli Thomas headed straight for the rim, and drew the foul.  Heading to the line, he missed the first, but connected on the second.  That was the difference maker, as the Express hung on to a 67-66 win.
