Michael Brown Funeral

Crowds Pack Service
Thousands of people attended a funeral service today for 18-year old Michael Brown, the black teenager shot and killed by a white police officer in Ferguson, Missouri earlier this month.

People began lining up outside Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church three hours before the funeral. Overflow auditoriums were set up and soon filled to capacity.

Family members talked about Brown saying one day "the world would know his name". Other speakers asked for justice in the case while others pleaded for a day of peace in Michael's honor.

There have been nightly protests, many of them violent, for nearly two weeks since the unarmed Brown was killed. So far there have been no charges in the incident and the police officer remains on administrative leave.
