Originally from Wichita, Kansas, Nicole Phillips has decided to trade in her Ruby Red slippers for the Twin Tiers.

While growing up in Kansas Nicole was no stranger to different types of weather and the fear of storms. She remembers being terrified during the May 3, 1999 tornado that ripped through Moore, Oklahoma and South Wichita. Fortunately, the fear for storms and tornadoes lead to a passion for weather.

Nicole graduated with a BS degree from the College of Atmospheric and Geosciences at the University of Oklahoma in May 2013. While in college, Nicole had several internships including KSN-TV, the NBC affiliate in Wichita, KOCO-TV in Oklahoma City, The Weather Channel in Atlanta, and Fox 25 in Oklahoma City. While interning in Oklahoma, Nicole gained severe weather experience as she helped track and prepare for the devastating tornadoes that ripped through the state in April 2012 and May 2013.

Nicole was also involved in the Oklahoma/ NASA space grant program and visited the NASA Jet propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California in March 2013. She also attended the NASA Women in Science conference, which mentored young women about opportunities in science and math.

When Nicole is not forecasting the weather you can find her hanging out with friends and family, cheering on the Oklahoma City Thunder and of course the Oklahoma Sooners. Nicole is excited to call the Twin Tiers home and is ready to explore the area!
