ELMIRA, N.Y (WETM-TV)- Chemung County drivers can expect delays within the next few weeks.

This weekend will begin the Public Works Paving Projects. Roads throughout the county will be getting paved and go through construction tune ups. Breesport North Chemung Road will be paved from Lattabrook to Jim Burlew Road. Colonial Drive will be closed for repaving near exit 51-A.And traffic will be limited to one direction from Acker Road to Ridge Road for paving.

Director of Public Works says it is important to stay alert for these delays.

Andy Avery said, “Anytime you drive through one of these areas make sure you plan for delays and look for alternative routes if possible. Drive safely, workers want to get home to their families same as you do.”

The money used for the paving project is coming from funds set aside including the one million dollar grant given from the county. County officials encourages drivers to plan accordingly, drive safely, and leave extra time for the commute.
