ELMIRA, NY – The Elmira Pioneers along with the PGCBL are proud to announce some different events that will take place for the 2014 PGCBL All-Star Game. The PGCBL’s brightest stars are set to take over Historic Dunn Field on Tuesday, July 15th. All-Stars from the East Division will take on All-Stars from the West Division in this year’s mid-season classic. The East Division All-Stars will be managed by Keith Griffin from the Amsterdam Mohawks while the West Division will be managed by Elmira’s own Matt Burch. The East Division team will be comprised of 24 players while the West Division will field 26 players.
The 2014 PGCBL All-Star Game is brought to you by Hilliard, Corning Inc., CSEA, Multi-Media Services, Texas Roadhouse, First Transit, Southern Tier Custom Fabricators, Sausage Maker, and Chemung Canal Trust Company. Pioneers co-owner Robbie Nichols said of this year’s sponsors and fans, "We have the most amazing sponsors and fans in baseball and they have been great in their support of the team and our local ownership group. The attendance numbers speak volumes about how baseball in Elmira is doing and having the opportunity to host the league's all star game gives us another way to show other fans from around the league exactly what we are doing at Dunn Field."

Zac Bellinger will represent Elmira in the PGCBL Home Run Derby as he looks to take home the title "Champion of the Long Ball." Gates will open at 5:00 p.m. for fans with the Home Run Derby to start at 6:00 p.m. The 4th Annual PGCBL All-Star Game will start at 7:05 p.m.
"Our players are excited to represent the city of Elmira at Dunn Field during the All-Star game. Having 9 Pioneers selected to the game is a credit to their abilities and these skills will be on display July 15th" stated Pioneers manager Matt Burch.
All-Star festivities will include free Hot Air Ballon rides for kids and $10 for adults courtesy of Balloons over Corning. There will also be Thunder-sticks handed out to fans courtesy of Hilliard and a HUGE post-game fireworks extravaganza sponsored by Corning Incorporated. Kids will also be able to enjoy a free “Kids Zone” that will feature bounce houses and more. “We couldn't be more pleased to have the opportunity to host this year's All-Star Game. Entertaining the fans off of the field is something that is very important to our ownership group and we have a lot of exciting events planned to entertain everyone that comes out to Dunn Field" stated Pioneers co-owner Don Lewis.
