Red Barons And Pioneers Split Series

The Red Barons earned the victory in game one with a 4-3 comeback and dropped the nightcap 6-2.

CORNING, N.Y. - The Corning Community College baseball team split with visiting Alfred State College this afternoon at Tuller Field in South Corning.  The Red Barons earned the victory in game one with a 4-3 comeback and dropped the nightcap 6-2.

Down 3-1 going into the bottom of the seventh inning, Corning scored three runs to earn the come from behind win.  Pat Fero threw the complete game win with seven strikeouts and only walked one.  Cody Schie stroked CCC's only extra base hit with a double.  

Game two saw the Red Barons give ASC six unearned runs on two errors and the game.  Corning outhit the Pioneers 9-3 in the nightcap.  Alan Stanhope pitched four innings and allowed four hits.  Kris O'Rourke went two innings, allowing two hits and three strikeouts while Ryan Delgado struck out two in one inning of work.  Cody Marchese went 2 for 4, Scott Clark was 2 for 3, William Bresser was 2 for 3 and Kevin Boulas hit CCC's only extra base hit, a double.  

Corning plays again Saturday as they host Tompkins Cortland CC in their conference opener.
