Coleman talked with Upon Further Review hosts Chris McManus and NewsChannel 9’s Steve Infanti on Tuesday and said, “If I was still playing, I would’ve boycotted.”
“I truly feel that a lot of owners talk that way about us being African-American, just the thing with Don Sterling is he was caught on tape.”
When asked if he believed there were at least a handful of owners that talked that way, Coleman replied, “Without question. Yes. Without a second thought. It’s just the world we’ve grown up in. It is what it is. Until you are actually caught saying or doing something like that – that’s when it becomes a problem.”
“Racism still exists,” Coleman said. “It’s still just as relevant as it was in the 60s and 70s as it is right now, the only difference is people have on suits and ties instead of hoods and sheets.”
