Orange Nation celebrates football team's bowl eligibility

Fans, friends, and family are excited about the team's win.
Syracuse (WSYR) - After an intense game inside the Carrier Dome that led to an Orange win and bowl game eligibility, the excitement moved outside to the Syracuse University campus.

Some fans admitted to not being sure if the Orange could pull it off.

Sara Obrist said, "We thought they were done. My friend was texting people telling them it was over."

But with seconds still on the clock, it wasn't over. The Orange got a last minute touchdown.

Noah Brosseau, who made the trip from Canada, said, "I was shaking. I wanted them to win so much and it happened."

If it was intense for the fans, you can imagine what is was like for the families and friends of players, many of whom waited outside the Carrier Dome to see the team right after the game.

Alvin Cornelius, an SU wide receiver, came up big in the game against Boston College. His father, Alvin, was beaming with pride outside the Dome Saturday night. He said, "I'm just happy for him."

Cornelius said, "The last minute was a tough one. They really didn't think we had it in us, but we kept driving the ball. We came out with a touchdown."

Fans and players agree the last minute of Saturday's game was as stressful as the entire season, but the lesson is never give up.

Cornelius said, "The whole season had its ups and downs, but all that doesn't matter right now. Everybody's happy that we're going to a bowl."
