Tallahassee, Florida (WSYR-TV) -Near the end of the first quarter of the football game between Syracuse University and Florida State on Saturday, SU sophomore cornerback Julian Whigham was carted off the field after a collision with teammate Jerami Wilkes.
According to ABC sideline reporter Jeannine Edwards, Florida State's team physician rode with Whigham to the hospital.
The physician said Whigham has internal bleeding when he was being taken to the hospital.
Syracuse University released a statement saying: "Julian was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital with an injury to his abdomen. Julian is doing much better and is in good condition. As a precaution, he will remain at the hospital overnight for observation."
Florida State won the game 59 - 3.
