Thomas Named Corvias ECAC Field Hockey Co-Defensive Player of the Week
Centerville, MA -- Lauren Thomas '14 of the Elmira College field hockey team has earned another award this week as she was named the Corvias ECAC Field Hockey Co-Defensive Player of the Week. With the award, Thomas becomes the first Elmira College athlete in 2013 to receive ECAC weekly honors.
Thomas led the Soaring Eagles to a perfect 2-0 week as Elmira recorded a 6-0 shutout win over the Express of Wells College and a 2-1 OT victory over the Presidents of Washington & Jefferson. While logging 53 minutes of action the fourth-year standout was not called upon to make a single save in Elmira's win over Wells but against the Presidents she had one of her best performances of the year as she stopped a season high 17 shots to clinch the 2-1 OT win, Elmira's first victory in college history against Washington & Jefferson.
Thomas and the Elmira College field hockey team will look to continue their strong play this weekend as they host defending Empire 8 champions Utica College on Saturday, October 19th. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the Murray Athletic Center in Pine Valley, NY.
