
Sharif D. King joined the News 18 team in May 2021, where he currently works as a MMJ reporter.
Sharif has obtained an Associates Degree from Five Towns College in Liberal Arts with a Broadcast Concentration, Bachelors of Arts Degree from SUNY College at Old Westbury in Media & Communications with a minor in Theatre Arts and a Masters Degree from Syracuse University’s S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications in Broadcast and Digital Journalism with a Sports Media and Communications Emphasis.
Prior to joining the WETM 18 News Team, Sharif was an in game arena host for Syracuse Athletics, Digital On-Air Host For Citrus TV, Anchor for Syracuse University News, On-Air Host/Contributor with George Kilpatrick’s Inspiration For The Nation on Power 620, an a intern at the NBC Affiliate in Syracuse, CNY Central.
Sharif is also a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc and the National
Association of Black Journalists.
When he’s not working, Sharif enjoys listening to new music, playing and watching sports, visiting new eateries and taste testing their signature recipes, watching movies and web series, traveling to new cities, and playing one of his favorite board games, Connect 4.
Sharif is excited to connect with the Elmira/Corning community and explore all that the Twin Tiers has to offer.
