MAY 10 UPDATE: The Towanda Area School District confirmed that Monday’s police presence on school grounds was in response to a bomb threat reported by a student.
The school district said that around 11:50 a.m., a student told school officials about a message in a girl’s bathroom about a bomb in the Jr./Sr. High School. Students and staff were evacuated while Towanda Police and Pennsylvania State Police with two bomb-sniffing K9s arrived on scene to help school administrators investigate.
According to the school, initial results of the ongoing investigation found the threat to be unsubstantiated. Police also found a person of interest.
The school was deemed safe and classes resumed at their normal time in the morning on May 10. The school is asking anyone with information to contact the Towanda High School
TOWANDA, Pa. (WETM) – Police responded to Towanda High School to investigate an incident Monday afternoon.
Police were seen on school grounds by a reporter on the scene around 3:15 p.m. on May 9, 2022. Bradford County Dispatch confirmed with 18 News that the Towanda Borough Police Department was investigating an incident at the high school.
