A man damages wall street’s famous “charging bull” statue by attacking it with a banjo.
Police say 42-year-old Kevin Varlack was seen striking the bull shortly after noon on Saturday.
Varlack was charged with criminal mischief, criminal possession of a weapon and disorderly conduct.
Video shows the statue with cuts at the base of one of its horns.
The bull is a symbol of american financial resilience in the wake of the 1987 stock market crash.
The statue was installed in 19-89 by artist Arturo DI Modica and it’s not the first time it has been vandalized. Paint was also dumped on the bull in 2008 and 2017.
